Questions about PX7 Markdown Viewer

What is PX7 Markdown Viewer?
Open .md files as rendered Markdown, preview them in Finder Quick Look, and edit the source. Free native Mac app; local files and no account.
Where does PX7 Markdown Viewer do its work?
PX7 Markdown Viewer works directly with the Markdown files stored on your Mac.
How much does PX7 Markdown Viewer cost?
PX7 Markdown Viewer is free. It has no subscription.
Which Macs can run PX7 Markdown Viewer?
macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon or Intel
How do I open an .md file on a Mac?
Install PX7 Markdown Viewer, then double-click the .md file in Finder. It opens as rendered Markdown; press Command-E to edit the source and Command-S to save it. The app is free and works locally.
How do I preview Markdown files in Finder?
Install a Quick Look extension and pressing Space on a .md file renders it instead of showing the source. PX7 Markdown Viewer adds that preview and also opens .md files on double-click.
Why does Quick Look show raw Markdown text?
macOS has no built-in Markdown renderer, so Quick Look falls back to plain text and you see the asterisks and hashes. A Quick Look extension replaces that fallback with a rendered view.
Can I edit a Markdown file directly from its preview?
Yes โ€” โŒ˜E switches to the source and โŒ˜S saves it, so a small correction does not need a separate editor. Images are resolved from the note's own folder.
Is there a free Markdown viewer for Mac?
PX7 Markdown Viewer is free. It renders CommonMark and GitHub-flavoured Markdown, runs entirely on your Mac, and needs no account.
Is PX7 Markdown Viewer the same app as MacMD Viewer?
No. PX7 Markdown Viewer is a separate app made by PX7 Digital and is free. MacMD Viewer is an unrelated product from another developer with its own pricing.
