Grab is a native Mac menu-bar app. Press ⌃⌥⌘G, drag a box around any text on screen — an image, a video, a PDF, an app that won't let you copy — and it's on your clipboard as Markdown. Paste it with ⌘V.
The text is read on your Mac with Apple's Vision framework — nothing is uploaded, no account. The screenshot itself is discarded; you keep the words.

How it works
⌃⌥⌘G. Drag. Paste.
Press ⌃⌥⌘G anywhere
The native crosshair appears over whatever you're looking at — no app to switch to. Esc cancels.
Drag a box around the text
An image, a video frame, a slide, a scanned PDF, a paywalled article, an app that blocks copy — if you can see it, you can grab it.
Read on your Mac
Apple's Vision framework recognises the text on-device — nothing uploaded — and tidies it (trimmed, de-hyphenated) into clean Markdown.
Paste with ⌘V
The text is on your clipboard, ready for your notes, an email or another app. The screenshot is discarded.
The promise
If you can see it, you can copy it.
So much text can't be selected: baked into images, trapped in video, locked behind an app that disabled copy. Grab gets it out in one keystroke — on your Mac, privately — and hands you plain text you can actually use.
